On October 3, 2024, passed peacefully at Christchurch Hospital, aged 83 years. Best friend and very much loved husband of Pamela for 53 years, much loved dad of Fiona and Joe (Canada), Daryl “Moggie” and Zoe, Katrina “Polly” and Jason, special Pop of Tristan, and Jacob (Canada); Nico, and Lachlan. Loved son of the late Sam and Jane Coutts, loved son-in-law of the late Reg and Rebecca Smith, loved brother of Brian (Dunedin), and brother-in-law of Bo and Liz (Paroa). Eric was loved by his nieces and nephews in New Zealand, and cousins in Edinburgh.
 Loved to the end. He will be sorely missed.
