Passed away on 20/07/2024,  Farewell Ceremony in New Zealand on 30/07/2024

Halina passed away peacefully, holding our hands at Bupa Parklands Care Home, in Christchurch, New Zealand, aged 82.

Much loved Mum to Dorota and Leszek, mother-in-law to Ewelina and Tomasz.A beautiful human being with a remarkable gift to attract and share nothing but the good.She left this world a much better place for a lot of people, sharing around what she learned and experienced herself, as a woman, mother, and educationalist. Never short of advice, opinion or constructive feedback, straightforward and to the point.
Our gratitude goes unreservedly to the incredible carers at Bupa Care Home for their tremendous, loving care of Halina over the last four years. Kindness did not need a language. We will gather to farewell Halina in New Zealand at a low-key ceremony in our Westpark Chapel, 467 Wairakei Road, Burnside, on Tuesday,  July 30 at 2.00pm.  She will then travel back to Poland for her funeral and thereafter interment at a later date, in her beloved Gdansk.

Following Halina’s farewell, a native plant will be established in Christchurch’s unique Living Memorial at Otukaikino – a 13ha freshwater wetland reserve and an area of New Zealand’s cultural significance.
