Called home to be with his Lord and Saviour on March 1, 2024, surrounded by family, at Christchurch Hospital, aged 72 years. Dearly loved husband of Beppy, loved father and father-in-law of Cindy & Richard van Garderen, Lucretia and Matt Lawrence, and Lana and John Steenhof, fun-loving and much loved Opa of his 15 grandchildren and great grandson. Will be missed by his extended family and many friends.

A service of thanksgiving for the life and faith of Roel will be held in the Reformed Church of Christchurch, 61 Cornwall Street, St Albans on Thursday, March 7 at 1.00pm, preceded by interment at Yaldurst Cemetery, Buchanans Road, at 10.00am.
